Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-12; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 17 - 20. A single cheek photophore; luminous tissue at base of adipose fin. Max length : 14.0 cm SL male/unsexed.

Deep-water marine. Mesopelagic at 0-200 m at night, 200-1000 m during day. Depth range ? - 3400 m.

Distribution

North Pacific: widely distributed in the subarctic waters, including the Okhotsk and Bering seas. In British Columbia, collected on deepwater surveys, RBCM records (Gillespie pers. comm. 2011).
